The American Cervid Alliance (ACA) is a leadership council comprised of representatives from 32 separate elk, deer, and exotic associations. The leaders of these associations meet regularly to assess the latest attacks on our industry from over-regulation and harmful legislation.

Fundraising is underway with money being generated and donated by individual breeders, national associations, state associations, and industry supporters. There are several benefit auctions being planned for 2013 with all proceeds going to the ACA for legal, legislative and public relations action. If your local, state, or national association is having an auction or if you would like to donate an animal or semen to one of this winter’s many public auctions and you would like the proceeds to benefit the ACA, contact the below email or address and we will ensure your donation makes a difference in the fight for the cervid industry.

The ACA is currently defending your rights in several states to eliminate the over-regulation, double standards and unfunded mandates the cervid industry has faced over the last two decades. Please join the fight and support the ACA by joining or supporting your local, state and national associations today and asking them to be part of this grassroots effort to protect and preserve our rights to raise cervid species.

The following associations have representatives that have been part of the formation of the ACA. I would encourage all cervid producers to join these associations and have your voice heard because the consequences we face as an industry are far too important to be left out anymore. If your state or local association isn’t on this list encourage them to be part of ACA, we need everyone to stand together.

I have been facilitating the flow of information and moderating discussions for the American Cervid Alliance.

I've taken the liberty to copy and post this message which was on a elk public web site.

Now for all the people on this web site here is the direction you can take to help our industry. Donate now and help our industry. I'm going to donate are you? We need 100% of our industry to give something. Your donation will be used to help the industry in the three areas we need to survive. Finally a good place to put up your donation to keep this industry alive.

Deer and elk breeders everywhere,

I read posts by people on this forum that ask what is the next step? Where do we go from here?

It is clear there are frustrated breeders that seek a solution.

The American Cervid Alliance is that answer.

The American Cervid Alliance is not a new association. It is what it says it is, it is an alliance. An alliance of leaders of 32 different elk, deer and exotic associations.

These leaders have been meeting to see what can be done about the over-regulation and double standards we are forced to live with. We have met with industry lobbyists, attorneys, and scientists.

And for the first time in the history of cervid breeding, we see 32 separate groups come together and say “enough is enough” and fight under the same flag.

But we need everyone- all the breeders to be with us, supporting this charge. Or we will lose.

There is a battle going on in Iowa right now.

Breeders are fighting to survive. We have to stand behind the Iowa battle and support them.

Imagine if you are in your home in Texas, in your home in Pennsylvania, or Indiana and after you feed your animals, after you eat your dinner and kiss your children goodnight, you have to then sit in your chair and figure out what you will do when your state government is telling you to depopulate your 500 deer with no indemnification. What would you do? Would you look for help?

That is the reality in Iowa.

The American Cervid Alliance is asking everyone to put yourself in the Iowa breeders’ shoes and support this. We are building a warchest to fund the legal fees and experts to testify that their regulations are unnecessary, unproven to science, and just plain wrong.

Breeders, please send $100 or $200 to the American Cervid Alliance. $1,000. Anything. No donation is too big or too small. Your donation will not be forgotten and lost in the shuffle.

Donate a straw of semen. Big buck or big elk. Your local association or the ACA will make sure it is auctioned off and appropriated for the ACA legal battle. Donate a hunt. Donate a fishing trip. Anything will help. We have auction hosts offering to help provide the benefit venue.

The people in Iowa need us. They need all the breeders to help. There is also a very real possibility there will be battles brewing in Missouri or even the federal level soon.

Let’s come together and win this battle. Let’s beat this agency. Other states will take notice.

We just have to win a few of these before they realize they can’t do this or they’ll face the same fate.

We have top attorneys guiding us. This is a professional and well planned endeavor.

We call this the American Cervid Alliance because that’s what it is. An alliance of Americans. And in America, we fight for freedom.

Fight with us.

I am not going to call people out.........but if your heart truley is into raising Whitetails

Why the Heck...wouldn't you respond to this thread........maybe I don't get it...someone please enlighten me......OK CROCKET...AWESOME.....YOU CAUGHT ME BEFORE I COULD EDIT MY POST....SO MIKE AND MICHAEL I GUESS WILL BE MAD AT ME.....BUT I SINCE CHANGED MY POST AND DIDN'T MEAN TO CALL YOU GUYS OUT......ANYHOW....MY POINT IS NOT TO MAKE ANYONE LOOK BAD BUT TO SEE OUR INDUSTRY TURN AROUND......AND THESE GUYS ARE AFTER OUR BEST INTERESTS.........COME IN PEOPLE SUPPORT THEM ALREADY!

Dennis, just because people don't post something on here does not mean they won't support the effort. Many deer farmers do not read the forums on a daily basis. I guess I am one of the deer nuts that has to have a dose of the forums daily. The state organizations should "assess" all of their members a $100-$200 each for this cause and contact all breeders that are not members. It is easy to get the contact information for all breeders in every state from the state.

I mailed my check today and hope everyone else will but you are right to say many of the farmers will simply sit on the sideline and complain. What would be good is for the new alliance to provide a monthly list of all donors - just a little peer pressure.

Your right Brett......just trying to get people moving I guess......I want to see things turn around for all of us....nothing more ....nothing less.....

Dennis i think you might want to get that condition you have taken care of. You have no idea of what Michael or myself have done to be involved in this. We are both on our state boards. We both know whats going on in this industy because we get involved. Not just get on a keyboard everyday a rattle on a bunch of crap that as you can see..people are sick of hearing from you.

You want to do something.. Make your donation of your choice and dont worry about what the rest of us are doing. Im sure everybody will do their part.

I was wrong for my words Mike and I apologize.........I want what is best for our industry......and you are right words on this forum are not going to solve anything.......I will send my donation and hopefully ACA will be able to make some headway on theses issues we face......

We should all make sure those who aren't reading this on the internet know about this alliance and have the chance to become involved. Spread the word to your Amish and non-internet savvy friends! I know I will be sending a check, and I hope every deer farmer does as well, whether you say it on here or not. This is a positive step- let's all remain positive! :D

A big "Thank You" to those involved in getting this alliance together and working!!

Thank you to everyone for their support of the ACA.

Just as an FYI, the notes from the ACA meeting the other night are posted under the members only forum.

Thanks,

Travis Lowe

I’m proud to see the positive posts supporting the American Cervid Alliance. Just as a follow up, the ACA leaders will be meeting again very soon to discuss the fundraising for the Iowa battle and building the war chest for the other looming battles. Most state and national associations have a meeting or convention coming up during the first few months of the year… Please see if you can help get items put on those auctions earmarked for the legal battle.

Thanks again for everyone’s support of the ACA.
