I am pasting a post that was brought to my attention this morning, from one of the forums that gives major ammo to someone who is against our industry and hunting ranches. I also am pasting a thread from a hunting forum in ND where they pasted a thread from DeerFarmer and used it for ammo in their efforts to shut down hunting ranches. We need to use the members only section more often, but even in here we still don't know who everyone is that is registered. Please be careful of what you post and more importantly lets police ourselves we shouldn't need some activist to point out when we are shooting ourselves in the foot.

I would encourage everyone that has signed the petition on another thread on this site, to take a little initiative and try to protect the hunt ranch industry and keep an eye on what is being said on these forums and better yet what is happening on the hunt ranches that might be fueling the fires. It is hard to focus on promotion when we spend most of our time putting out fires and trying to duck the black eyes the we give ourselves.

if you got enough out him not to be a ------- id put him in the freezer we had one just like that once he got himself in a frnzy he never came out of even when he was sold for a hunt he tried ripping the fence off the posts tried killing dad would pick up the water trough and toss and even with a well placed arrow in him at the preserve he charged the guy within 4 or 5 feet before he fell over in my opinion i know i will never own a bottleraiseed buck because of my experience but if you do plan on keeping him dart him and cut his horns off he will still be agressive atleast ours was but will cause less harm to you than if he had his horns on

Just Mom and Pop HF operations. Sure. Gotta love these boys, not shy at all. Barebackjack you were right, it's just like selling milk. Shooter bucks............love that term, sounds like Vegas.

THE PLAN

Fellow deer farmers.

Most of you by now are wondering what the plan is to get move hunters so we can harvest more bucks and promote breeding to a new level.

The SPECIFIC GOAL or vision encompasses advertising for more hunters to the hunting ranch’s. WHY: To harvest the shooter bucks produced by the breeders. For years breeders have been marketing their breeding stock. Now is the time to market their shooter bucks. Just as dairy farmers market their milk. The specific goal is to bring down the wall or stigma of canned hunts. HOW: To advertise the experience and advantages of high fenced hunting. Note: the focus must be on the hunting experience and not the hunting ranch. Sell potential hunters on the benefits of high fenced hunting, they will find the ranch’s. What are the benefits, No licenses, guaranteed hunt, great values, good selection, close proximity ect.

Shawn is right.......unfortunately WE often think this site is for our eyes only and a lot of times we get into some good heated debates and discussions and say things that end up being great ammo for the Anti's to use against us............I can also hear what Shawn is saying about constantly having to be on the defensive and putting out fires that we end up creating ourselves..........Russell how could we set something up where we know it is for the deer farmers eyes ONLY? Do you think this is possible? I am actually worried to even pst on deer farmers anymore for fear that i might give the antis ammunition!! WE need to be careful everyone!!

So from this comment I sense that because someone "signed the petition" they lack initiative and are not trying to protect the industry.

That is simply crap!

Go ahead and use the same bull crap tactics against us now by singling out a couple of folks comments the same way that these anti's are singling out the Bellar example and using it against the entire industry.

I find it very disturbing that some on the NADEFA board choose to get defensive about this petition instead of looking at additional ways to address the issue discussed in the petition. If a petition from the membership is so bothersome I wonder how they are able to function productively against the anti's when they spew their garbage.

Have we not been told that NADEFA is "our organization" over the years? So why is it so wrong to try and voice of opinion to the board through a petition?

Since it would seem that the petition is NOT going to be received with an open mind I guess we are wasting out time, yet again. So I will just give up and keep silent. I apologize to the folks who signed the petition, but your on your own now. I'm out.

Roger, please don't read any more into my post than what it says. If you know me at all you know I don't mix words, I say what I mean. If you read my post and the examples that are in it you will see that my intentions are to make everyone aware that we are always being watched and that we need to not only watch our own comments and conduct but those of our fellow breeders and hunting ranches as well. If I had a comment about your petition it would be to let everyone know that my phone number is 651-212-1315 and my email is [email protected] . I do work for this industry and I am always willing to talk to anyone that has ideas on ways to improve it. For the record the only person from this forum that has ever contacted me with ideas on how to promote the hunt ranch industry, was Andy Fore and we had a great discussion about different ideas to promote the hunt ranch industry.

Dennis, I think you are also taking my comments to the extreme. We don't have anything to hide, we are a professional and ethical industry. We are not under some "new" attack, people have been watching and copying material from this site from the beginning. We are not bad people or a bad industry, Russell has done a great job setting these forums up and does a fine job of monitoring them, but he does need our help watching what is being posted.

Shawn,

forgive me if i read you wrong....... not my intentions......I know this forum has been around for a lot longer than I have and I respect that....all this being said...i have sent you a private mail and look forward to hearing back from you I hope! I am only trying what i can to help....more and more as it goes i can see why people are very reluctant to write and only read the forums!

Guys this is just me here and i understand playing defence and putting out fires i own a small service business and it seems like thats all i do. But how ever in my business i try to be proactive in what i do. i try to prevent fires as well as put them out. The petition that is to be presented is asking for such a measure. A Balance between offence and defence so to speak. If we continue to educate the public about or industry more and more less fires need put out. My take on all the defence here is that we make more of an affort to educate people when there is a problem then what we do to try an prevent the problem. In my business it would cost me bundles to have to revisit the same issue again and again. We who sign the petition are asking for such a proactive, preamptive (sp) strike against such actions against you, me, our industry. my opinion you want to stop putting out so many fires start taking measures to prevent them.

With that said im willing to help if there is more i can do please contact me my number is 717-729-8348 my email is [email protected].

i would like to be part of the solution not the problem.

Shawn, I acknowledge your effort to try and call me. I got your voice mail but I was in Inchon South Korea and Shanghai China at the time and it costs way too much $$$ to talk on my phone from there.
