Anyone else feeding chaffhaye?

I started feeding chaffhaye last winter and have fed it all this winter. If your not familiar with it check out their website www.chaffhaye.com. Long story short it is alfalfa chopped, misted with molasses, and put in an air tight bag. I have had no issues with it at all as far as scours or anything. My deer dont seem to eat much of it in the summer when everything else is green but in the fall and winter they love it. The best part is they eat it all unlike hay where they leave allot of stems. I am a dealer for them but not posting this as a sales ad! Just wanted to see what others thought about it.

i would be if there was a dealer close to me am trying to talk the feed company i use into carrying it as good hay is hard to find around here

Actually thats how i became a dealer. There was no one close to me when i wanted it so i called them and just became a dealer myself. I have sold quite a bit of it without really trying. A good product sells its self. Give em a call if that intrests you.

I really want to feed it, but like Russell said, they are out until May 15. By May 15 I really wont need it that much. If it were a product I could get in the months I need it, it would be a great thing. hopefully this year is just a fluke.

Yeah they are out right now because they had a horrible drought this year. I actually have some but haven't tried to sell much so I would have enough. If you get on their website go to the dealer locator and if your lucky you may be able to find a dealer close by that still has some to sell.

I just talked to Kimber and she is a very nice lady and really knowledgeable about the chaffhaye. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction Nate.

The cost depends on the dealer and where you are at. I sell it for 11.50 a bag delivered. They come in 50 pound shrink rapped bags. My problem as a dealer in northeast Indiana is I have to sell it a little cheaper than most because I am in good hay country. As far as eating it its awesome they will it all of it with no waste. A fifty pound bag of chaffhaye is equal to about one and a half to two bales of good alfalfa hay. I am feeding 6 fawns, five adult dies and my breeder buck and a bag last me about 7 to 8 days right now. This is the time of year they eat the most too so it's pretty cost effective compared to reg hay. And like I said there is no waste as compared to reg hay where they don't always eat the stimson. Hope that helped fill ya in a little better:)))

We use it and are pleased with the convenience factor. we try to get together with some others for aa full load. fuel prices keep jacking up the price. :-(

I bought 10 bags and 6 of the 10 were molded. Ended up feeding them to my longhorns. I think horse quality alfalfa is a better bet.

Robert, you are 100 percent right on that! Thanks go clarifying that I know that's a big misconception of the product.

Mark,

As far as Ohio is concerned, there are currently no dealers. I was told that Ohio stopped the bringing in of Chaffhaye from Texas. I was able to get some delivered, but the freight cost me as much as the chaffhaye itself! It is a great product and the deer love it.

Hey pal, I sell this stuff, give me a call but you are right, they are out right now

Nate you mentioned $11.50 a bag delivered. Do you deliver to Illinois? We have been looking for a dealer in Illinois and can't find any. I have considered becoming a dealer myself if you didn't have to buy a truckload at a time. Rick

Thanks for the heads up. Yes, you are right, what i saw was white all over it. I assumed it was mold and fed it to the cows! The longhorns loved it.

Rick i wish i could get it to ya but i cant afford to deliver it to illinois for 11.50 a bag:)) However dont know your situation but if you know anybody traveling through north eastern indiana i'd sell it to ya for 11 bucks a bag if you have someone pick it up. Thought id throw that out there you never know. I only have about 80 bags i would sell right now because i cant get anymore until may. Thanks!
