I'm looking for some info. on Bam tranquilizer. I would like to know the pros and cons from folks that have used it. Thanks for any help with this product.

Michael,

Depends on what you are wanting to do. Its not for sawing antlers or pulling semen, in my opinion. I would not use it for anything where you need to do very much to an animal. A sick deer that needs meds and can't get it to the chute, it works well because of the reversal time. I will probably get jumped on by those that use it for everything, letting me know how great it is. So please read again where I said in my opinion.

We have a buck that doesn't do well with telazol/rhomp. mix. THis is the reason I want to know about it. I have been told that it runs about $ 100.00 a shot. That in my opinion is not expensive when you are talking about a deer that doesn't take well to other means. Thanks for the responses, just trying to get a feel for how well it works and where to get it.

Went to a seminar in FT Wayne a couple years ago and the people that make Bam said Do not use it to pull semen. The price will come down when a certin ingredient is no longer protected under patient laws.Oh yeah its a 2 shot system for reversal.

BAM is a great drug, but I find it combersome to use in feild situations. Yep, it is expensive. Just out of curiosity, what strength xylazine are you using and how are you reconstituting the telazol?

Scott, I think the xylazine is 100. It was mixed 8 to 1. The buck I was talking about weighs 350+ on the hoof and i hit him with 2ccs. He was out for 8 hours. When he woke up everything was ok just hate to see them down that long. That is why I wanted to find out about Bam. Have you ever used it to saw antlers? Thanks mp

Unknowingly, by accident (and I ask because I did this once) are you sure you reversed him with the correct reversing agent? I accidentally injected Draxin. Went back to check later and deer was still out. Thought about it for a minute and realized it. The Tolazine and the Draxin both had yellow and white labels. They looked identical. Simple mistake but no harm was done. Jeff
