Surely Im not the only one that has problems with these pesty birds not only eating my deer feed, but returning it to me in white pellets that cover the top of the feed. We tried feeding after dark only so that the birds dont eat it but we feel that thats a long stressful day for the deer in this weather. We are firm believers in having food available at all times. However, these birds are leaving so many of their own pellets mixed in with the feed that I know the deer have to be eating it. They are regularly wormed but how serious is this problem? Does everyone deal with it? Just worm them more often? Deer dont enjoy shotgun blasts and pellet guns take to long since there are 100s of birds. Built the bird trap that was on these forums from a year or two ago but apparently this Maxrax has made these birds pretty smart to choose the feed that doesnt have traps over it. Anybody have any suggestions or does bird **** grow bigger antlers and is it perfectly fine to consume???? Thanks

Bird crap= coccidioiss= Diaherra=Loss of weight and in the end a dead deer. Can pass through the whole herd very easy. Not a good thing to deal with.Get rid of the birds at all cost...

I would worry more about raccoon poop . I also hate all those flocks of black birds too. They are worst when you feed texture feed .

It can't be good, but I also don't think it's a dire situation. FWIW my deer have been sharing their feed with birds for years and I've yet to see any adverse effects.

Just reduce the size of the feed tray your feed falls into, and also, dont feed from the ground. That should at least cut down on the amount of droppings that can collect within the feed.

I had lots of birds in my feeders to, i hung them plastic owls over the feeders no more bird problem

I finaly gave up on trying to trap, shoot and poisen them. I now buy about 80 lbs of bird feed a week. I have three bird feeders on my deck. As long as i keep them full I dont get bird crap in my deer feed. I have seen fifty to a hundred sparrows at the feeders at one time. I havnt seen the starlings so far this year though either so I may still have a problem there when they show up. One thing that I havnt given up on is targeted electric shock. Targeted meaning using it in a way to only zap sparrows and starlings. I will give details when its perfected.
