Does anyone have any ideas on how to get rid of birds around the feeders? We have used owls in the past but they don't seem to phase them at all! It seems like every day we go out to check feed it is topdressed with lots and lots of bird droppings!! Any suggestions?

You can try feeding a little closer to dark and see if that helps. I know exactly what your going through, I have the same problem. I have trough feeders and gravity feeders which they go rite up the spouts and just set inside the feeder till there fat and happy. Good luck and if you find a solution, let me know.

I give them a little Golden bird feed for them to enjoy. Problem solved!

This is why we have gone to the gravity feeders. We used to have bunk feeders that were gravity fed, but after problems like you describe we changed to Outback Feeders. There is no effective way to keep the birds out of your feed, especially if you are mixing in corn, or something else they like.

The best thing I've found in the trough feeders, is to feed in the evenings with only enough to have a little bit left over.

If you get the thunder valley gravity feeders they have a rubber cover that fits over the ends of the feeding tubes...they are made of heavy rubber and are sliced so the deer can push through with their nose and get the feed....it works great and the birds have a hard time getting the feed......problem is the bucks destroy them with their antlers and they need replaced from time to time......

We will be on our 3rd set this summer as i have to get some at the Pa fundraiser. They are great feeders! Just if the bucks would leave them be!

How do you get them to eat it. I have tried mixing it in with cracked corn and they seem to avoid it.

Hey Buddy, I was to tractor supply and got myself a 3lbs bag of bird seed. Melted some Golden down in water...soaked it a couple days...Lay it out on a piece of plywood and let it dry a day and let them eat till they bust!

a string of three or four compact discs in each dorway or or two dangled fron each feeder corner, deer get used to them, birds dont.....tried it in a commercial feed shed and only two birds out of thirty came back after hanging three weeks
