We sedated one of our 2 year old bucks this evening to flush out an

abscess on his upper lip. After he was down, I went out to start working on him and noticed some blood dripping from his rectum.....maybe 1 Tablespoon tops. It was coagulated and bright red. He looked slightly bloated to me so I got him up sternal.....still drained and flushed the abscess, then gave him 2cc Banamine, 6cc LA 200 and reversed him......was he bleeding internally?

Vet says maybe just so toxic from the infection. But he's only had the lump for 2 days. We used a little 1 cc dart in the hind.....could we've hit an artery?

What else causes internal bleeding? ugh...don't say TB.

I just reversed him a few minutes ago so I'll have to wait to check on him.

I would first suspect Coccidia or maybe Ecoli . Do a fecal float to make sure . Both are treatable . LA 200 should take care of the Ecoli but you should treat Coccidia with corid or the drug of your choice.

It is common for them to bleed a little after you dart them. Was the blood in the area the dart hit?

No....the blood was coming from his butt.......

is it to early for EHD to hit?

I have a couple week old Fawn and she was constipted I gave her a couple drops of mineral oil and it did NOT do the trick for a couple of days. Finally a blob of soft fecal matter finally came out but when I wiped her there was blood on the baby wipe. She is bright eyed and drinking her milk good. I need help this is my first baby in a long time! We are in a small town and don’t have any vets in the area and no resources for me to get help! Can someone give me advice.

Bright red blood can also mean Type A colstridium. Or just a broken blood vessel.
