We've been raising a baby deer since birth, she sleeps in the house and is the sweetest ever. She has a pen that she stays in during the day and yesterday evening right before dark, someone open the gate to her pen and she was spooked by a neighboring dog, she fled and I haven't seen her since. I've walked ever inch of the woods nearby and no sign of her. What are the chances that she will come back home? Will she drift so far that I may not be able to find her? Will she be able to survive? She still loved her bottle and would only eat vegetation. I'm worried sick about her and I just need someone's opinion. Please tell me I will see her again. Thanks.

Leave some dirty clothes around in various places in the woods nearby to keep coyotes away. She will show back up if she hasn't got busted up by old field fence. Go out late in the evening and shake her bottle. I say chances are over 90%. She will wander back.

Good luck!

If she is alive and healthy she will be back. I guarentee it. If you don't see her soon, she was probably injured or became ill.

She will likely be back.  When she shows up be careful and cautious on getting her back into your pen.  Hopefully she will follow you with a bottle.  Don't try to force the issue and man handle her.  Even though she is normally really tame grabbing her is a bad plan.  I have the scars to prove it.  Good luck.

Deer like companionship so if she met with another deer with fawns there is a good chance she will stay with them.  You will probably see her again but with her new family.  Just the way nature works.
