Brigid,
As you know, we had Brandon and his dad, Greg came back to Briarwood last week, and what an incredible hunt they had. It was made all the more exciting by the fact that Brandon's younger brother Tyler(8) was able to come as well. As you will see in the pictures, both Brandon and Tyler were able to take their first whitetail buck! The buck that Brandon harvested was donated by Ohio deer farmer Dean Bontrager in October. I would also like to thank Dean for his continued generosity. Unfortunately, we were unable to find the deer the first time Brandon was here. He was basically nocturnal. For the last couple of weeks leading up to Brandon's hunt, we were tracking this deer. Fortunately he was staying in one particular block of timber where we had a couple of stands (which is a long way from where he was hanging out in October). Last Monday morning (the first day of the hunt), we spotted the elusive buck on a ridge about 100 yds from the stand. Unfortunately he did not hang around for a long enough time to get a shot off and followed 4 does out of sight. We decided to go back to the same stand that evening, but bad weather was moving in, the conditions kept getting worse. We stuck it out and finally, right before dark, Brandon's buck appeared from the brushy bottoms and he made a lethal shot at 25 yds. The buck went about 50 yds before crashing and there were a lot of high five's and smiles to go around. Two mornings later, Tyler was able to harvest his deer after missing a couple opportunities earlier in the week. All this was captured on film by Young Guns Outdoors. A wonderful time was had by all and I would like to thank you for giving us the opportunity to be a part of making this dream a reality. I think the best news of all it that all tests are showing a positive outlook on Brandon's health. Greg and I will continue to stay in touch and see how Brandon is doing.
Sincerely,
Chris Daniels
