I know my title sounds a little funny of course I know how deer breed. Here this is my questions to everyone out there and would love some feed back.

Has anyone heared of deer breeding through the fence?

Has anyone have a 6 month old buck fawn breed?

I have heared that this does happen and just wondering if anyone out there experance it....That you would have a breed doe and not really sure how it happened because she wasn't exposed to a mature buck.

Like my boss often says, "even a blind hog finds an acorn every now and then"

Obviously you now know what caused your problem, but I would assume a deer could breed through a single barrier fence. There has been numerous documentation of goats, dogs, and just about any other animal small enough that they can climp up on a fence without tearing it down that has been bred through a fence.

Thanks everyone for your input on this so what I was told is true then. Button bucks can breed & deer can breed through the fence. So know I know what I need to do this breeding season if I don't want to breed. Lucky enough that I can move my deer around so my doe have no chance at all of getting breed. You learn something new every day. I didn't think deer could breed through the fence & never in my dreams would I think a 6 month old buck was old enough to breed. Thanks again everyone...

Barr's WCT - I for one do not believe you have to worry about your does getting bred through the fence. I offer this not in arguement. It's just that I would hate to see you unnecessarily go through any trouble to modify your set up to prevent this. I would suggest that if somebody has actually had this happen, with whitetail deer, that a wild buck jumped into the pen and back out without being noticed. Again, trying to help, not argue.

Mark-I just find it hard to believe that they could breed through the fence but I have heared of other animals doing this. It was hard for me to believe that a 6 month old buck fawn could breed too. But as per the above posting people had buck fawns breed. The doe was in with 7 buck fawns during the breeding season this month they are 1 yrs old. Like you said unless a wild one jumped into the pen. Maybe I need to set up my husband's trail camera's this breeding season to see what really happens out in those pens at night.

It really isn't to much trouble for me to move my doe into the pen I want to move them into. Right now there are 5 mature buck in the pen I want to move them into. I am hoping that I sell the bucks for shooters this year then that pen will be empty. Plus the runway that is between the 2 pens is fenced in so it is easy to move them from pen to pen. My doe are tame enough that it really isn't a big deal to do.

Thanks for your input---I too am not posting to agrue--like I said it is just hard for me to believe that a buck fawn could breed that is why I posted this to see if anyone had breed a buck fawn. As far as breeding through the fence that is hard for me to believe that any animal could breed through a fence since they have to really mount the female. But I guess if there is a will there is a way LOL......

Barr'sWCT - You can take the fact that button bucks can breed to the bank. I as well as numerous other deer farmers have witnessed this i'm sure. Whitetail bucks breeding through the fence...not so much...have a hard time believing that could/would happen.

I sure do hope that deer can't breed through the fence, and do hope that a button buck can get the job done.

Scott-my fence is 8 feet high which is what we need it to be in PA. Well the doe that got breed we figured out who breed her. It was our white buck yearling the reason we know this is the doe gave birth to a white doe fawn and a brown buck fawn. So at least I know who the sire is. This breeding season we will be seprating the doe and buck not matter what the age is with a 30 foot section between the pens. We are not going to breed this year if we don't sale something. Not sure how to post the pic of them together. But do know now that 6 month old bucks can breed.
