Hi   I went out this morning and one of my doe's bottom jaw or lip was hanging down slightly from what i can see if jaw is broken its only maybe  an 1" in it does kind of wiggle around on that first 1". She must have done it hours before i went out because it was still bleeding a little. Has anyone ever had this happen before happen before and is there anything you can do if the jaw is broke say an 1" in. She did pickup some pieces of bread and eat them granted it was very careful as i am sure it hurts really bad right know. Don't like to knock them out if i don't have to so if i can't really do anything if the jaw is broken a little ways in i was just going to dart with some pain meds and antibotics. Never had this happen before so any knowledge would be appreciated. Thank you

Sometimes they will just peel the skin down with the lip. Even if it is skin only I would have a DVM stitch it back. If the jaw is broken I would put her down unless only the tip of the bone is snapped off. I would have a DVM remove it and again stitch the skin back to the gum area. I am not a DVM but that is what I would do with her.

True that if it is just her skin pulled down of her lip you can stitch it up yourself. i have done a couple of them  and can text ya pic's if need be. It only takes a couple stitches to fix. You can get stitch kit from Tractor supply store. Total broken jaw will be tough. You could get her alone and wait it out and make sure she eats and does not go downhill but it will be 50-50 at best.  Good Luck.

We had a doe last summer that had tore her lower lip away from the bone and it was hanging down. I called the vet and he came and looked at it and said it would probably heal on its own. Amazingly it did just that ! I would have it looked at.

Thanks for the replies guys. I got a closeup picture of it today and zoomed in and the jaw isn't broken which is a very good thing. It looks like what Tim had happen to his deer before were the lip tore away from the front side of the bottom jaw. Having vet come out tomorrow and having a look and see if it can be stitched back or not. I just bought two new bred doe's and as luck would have it was one of the best ones that i just bought but thats how it always goes in deer farming. I think she will be ok in the long run. Thanks again guys for the replies really appreciate it.
