My buck is starting to rub the front tips of his velvet today 8/30 . Is this ok at this time ? This is my first year with him rubbing velvet . Just wondering when they usually start doing this i thought sometime in sept. . Thanks to all that reply
I have 2 bucks that rubbed out in the last week. Most of my bucks usually go into hard anterler from end of August till middle of September. Troy
I have one out of more than 30 that started splitting his main beam velvet two days ago. I expect 30% to be shedding hard by the end of the week here in north-central MO.

My farm is in PA and one of my bucks was completely clean this morning...no velvet! I don't see any problems with this, some simply lose their velvet earlier than others. The one that shed was perhaps one of the smallest in my buck pen but now that he is in hard antler he is scaring even my biggest away. I don't like this but there is nothing I can do.
