Bug Killer(dietomashous earth)

i put it in our feed for 5 days a month( usually the last week of month) at a rate of 2.5 oz per 50lbs of feed. Now it doesnt kill all types of worms so i follow up with a regular regiment of Ivamec plus or Epernex every three to four months. Have yet to have a fecal (sp) come back positive yet.

I use it in every bottle when we bottle feed, 1/8 tsp per bottle. Add it to the litter in fawn pens to keeps flys down and aids in keeping litter dry. Add to free choice minerals as well.

We to also use it to dust fawn pens to keep fly's away.

We use it all the time with our birds here at the hatchery it de worms and kills lice we use it in our dog food for the dogs and rub it on there body for ticks and fleas. I do know a few Amish up here that eat a pinch each day. (but I have no idea how healthy that is )

My grandfather use to eat a pinch of it and take a dose of spirits turpentine weekly for years. My mother said thats what killed him but he was healthy as could be to age 96. So, I hope it kills me at 96!!!

I use it and swear by it!!! It works in chicken coups for all sorts of bugs, also around deer feeders, I will start feeding it to my bucks this summer!! And might try a pinch or two Myself! LoL

I eat a tablespoon the stuff every morning mixed with my oatmeal. Don't know if it helps with anything, but it hasn't hurt me. I was told that it helps with blood pressure and blood sugar.

What I do know is that after reading the article in Deer Tracking, I've fed it to my deer at the rate of 40 pounds per ton, mixed right into my pellets, and my deer never looked any better. I also have garlic added to the pellets at the rate of 8 pounds per ton. It seems to work keeping the fly population down.

I get the Diatomaceous Earth at http://www.earthworkshealth.com/. The biggest expense here is the shipping, but I recently found a source closer to home.

DE can be purchased at your local swimming pool supply company. It is used as a filtrate in most common DE swimming pool filters. I think they even carry it at my local Walmart. I am not sure whether this is the same type of DE that can be consumed by your deer though? need to confirm.

I purchased DE last summer for our deer and decided to test all the benefits EarthWorks claimed. I mixed a tablespoon in my dog's food daily, dusted her and the cat with it once a week, sprinkled it around the house and my husband took 1 tablespoon each morning mixed in his coffee. The results? No fleas on the pets, dog's coat looked healthier and she seemed more energetic, I used to hate going into the basement for fear of running into a centipede or large, hairy spider, had no centipedes and just a couple of large spiders. I couldn't tell you how it made my husband feel, but for awhile there I thought he was getting better looking, but then I realized I had forgotten to put on my glasses :)

Shipping was a bit high, but the discount of buying in larger quantities almost evened it out. I believe it was worth it. Please, just make sure you use the food grade.

Pretty cool stuff. I didn't expect this many responses thanks to all for the info.

I wrote the article on DE. Great to hear it has been helpful.

It is important not to get it mixed up with the pool grade type. That could be fatal. You need to ask at your local ag store of feed store for DE, feed grade.
