Some of you have seen some of my postings--My husband and I have a small deer farm in Penna. Herd right now only 23. We have a bloodline that was not pushed out into the deer industry. We have a 3 year old buck this year that has jumped away we never expected him too. He is non-typical --my questions are: How do I go about getting him DNA tested to start his bloodline to be registered? I know he isn't a monster like some of the others out there. But you never know. I also have some other bloodlines that no one every heard of also that are giving us some nice typical buck. Again not monsters but that is not what my husband and I were going for. We want to nice typicals scoring 120-180 and we are on our way. That brings me to another question. Does anyone know how the market is going to be out there this year? Prices on shooter bucks? Would like to start marketing 9 shooter bucks we have for sale. What would be the best way to market them? I have already posted some pic on another thread.

Thanks if you send me some advise on my question.

You can pull hair or drill his antler from last year and send it to Wildlife Genetics to get a DNA profile but unless his mother and/or father is in their data base, you will get no information on his background. Once you have his DNA profile you will be able to DNA his offspring and prove that they are his. Most think that shooter prices will be somewhat higher this year. I know for a fact that one preserve will openly say they will pay more this year but they were very low on their offers last year. Whitetail Sales is having a shooter auction in Ohio Sept. 1st. and there will be others as well. Otherwise, call around to preserves and ask what they will pay.

Steve--thanks for your input. Hubby and I are not sure what we want to do. We just got to the point that we have nice typicals to sell and can't sell them. I think it has to do with my marketing skills or haven't learned how to market them. This is one of the reasons why I posted this. I will check out the sales Thanks again.
