anyone else have trouble with does losing/pulling out cidrs? 5 days prior to scheduled cidr removal i notice one laying on the ground next to a feeder. when i ran my 7 does thru the chute 4 of them had lost their cidr. i replaced three as thats all i had on hand. when we ai'ed , we thought one had cycled, and couldnt tell on the other two. i didnt attempt to breed the one that i did not replace, just turned her in with the buck. anyway , i removed half the tail on cidrs before inserting this year. one year i removed all the string but that made it to hard to remove. especially on first year does.i make sure when i insert that i am as far in as my applicator will allow. any thoughts or suggestions for next year?  thanks  tom l

Just clip off SOME of the string. Then with lighter slightly melt the end to get rid of sharp edges. Removing the ball at end of string helps.

I agree with Roger, I always suggest that people cut off excess string and leave about 1 1/2" of the string. Its easier to have to do a little fishing for that CIDR than it is to have to wait another 21-30 days for that doe to cycle into heat again. If you leave that full length tail on the CIDR you will almost always have some CIDR's missing, also I have seen some does that will actually go round and bite and pull them out of other deer if they are hanging out far enough.
