Cleaning water buckets

Any ideas or tricks I can add to my water to keep algae out of my buckets.

I clean them about every 2-3 days. I have 3-100 gallon buckets/troughs with floats attached to them. I am just wondering if there is anything out there that is safe and easy.

Thanks,

Cameron,

teaspoon of bluestone per 35 gallons works for us. Clean the buckets first for best effect. You can pick it up at most ranch/farm supply places.

one can always limit the sunlight, takes sunlight to grow. maybe a top with opening.just a thought, bleach slows it way down.BOL

We use a capfull of bleach for every 25 gallons of water. Keeps most of the algea at bay for about a week then we dump and refill. We do keep tanks in shade where possible. That might slow it down too. We notice the mosquito larva don't seem to like the bleach much also. Rick
