Get a sample to the vet and be sure thats what it is!!I had one this year and i threw the corrid at her in water and with pellets in the feed!!!

I believe many are treating with Sulmet 12.5% now rather than using the Corid...I'm reading that many strains of Coccidia are now resistant to the Corid and Corid can also be deadly if not used correctly or something like that.
I personally would give the Sulmet a shot...it's not too expensive either.

Painted Meadow, How Much sulmet do i give to a fawn and for how long? Could i use this as a normal treatment? Thanks

An interesting product being used to kill parasites (worms) is Panacur it's active ingredient is fenbendazole. Dog breeders are also using it for coccidia and giardia. So I thought I'd try it on bottle fed deer fawns as sulfa drugs are hard on young stock in my opinion.
I have tried it on bottle fed fawns with coccidia that had blood in the droppings. I used 1cc per day in one feeding till the milk was gone for two or three days depending on how the stool looked. It cleared up the coccidia right away. This is not an approved use of the product but it works.

Thanks for the info Jack. I used to raise Labs years ago and we used panacur on our pups all the time to worm and it worked great. I have often wondered if it would be effective for fawns. How young of a fawn have you tried it on. Can fawns get coccidia at a week old or would it be something else if bright red blood was found in stool? Rick

Rick, Labs are my favorite dog, their great. I don't know if the blood in very young fawns is coccidia for sure but I have tried it on week old fawns as I thought the blood would be from coccidia and they stopped. Panacur is a great wormer and I have used it on bottle fawns before to worm them. You just can't overdose on Panacur, doses at ten times the right amount have caused no problem in other animals. When I found out the dog breeders were using it for coccidia I figured it would work on fawns and it has. I figured with the Resistance to other drugs coccidia was building it wouldn't hurt to try another product that was working for other animals.
