So,

Was just kicking around ideas for fun,

I know at 40 plus bucks a foot it wouldn't be cheap but wouldn't the 8' concrete walls be a perfect exterior fence around the perimeter of our property? I think it would keep the deer calm in there own little oasis and help prevent people dogs kids or whatever from coming up to the outside of the fence and send our deer crashing! What's your opinion on this? I figure a huge investment for our deer would be worth it just in peace of mind!

Make it 10' if it's going to be a solid fence. If you have plenty of rock around when you pour your footer add a brick ledge to lay up stone on the outside. In my opinion adding rock to the outside would make the plain block more attractive. A rocky river surrounds our farm on three sides so we have almost unlimited stone. I can't imagine laying up several miles of solid wall around Dads farm but it would be awesome when done! I would probably have to work the rest of my life to finish that project. Lol

The prefabricated concrete panel walls the highway department puts up for sound/sight barrier would probably be easier and cheaper than block. They can be stamped with attractive patterns.

Go to:  Superior Walls of America.  There is a dealer in Michigan that makes them.  They are 8-9-or10 foot tall precast and bolt together.  I have used them for basements and have built a house out of them all the way to the roof.  They set in place with a boom truck or crane and can be reused if you want to move them.

You could also have the outside stamped to look like brick or stone and colored.  Send me a note and I can give you the dealers email and phone if your interested.

How about 8' concrete wall with two foot of barb wire at the top like one line every 6 inches this would just be a perimeter barrier the pens would be within the walls!

If you wanted to save costs, you could just put up a 5-6 foot concrete wall, then add wire on top to get the height you need.  The wind load on the wall would be greatly reduced from 8 down to 6 foot.  Wind load is something you will need to consider on a long run.  You may have to add "dead-men" anchors, to support the tipping action.

I bought 6 foot tall plastic from the deer store, and used it along the highway.  Got rid of all my problems with vehicle traffic and stray animals.  Deer are very calm.

Would save you a lot of money vs. concrete. I just put posts in on 12 centers, and wind load don't seem to be much of a problem.

The Deer Store.  solid,  very strong, deer can't chew it, it does tear,  Excellent product.  Highly recommend .

When it’s time to bring deer into a handling facility to perform the  various required tasks, it’s a lot easier to route deer towards your facility from their habitat. Black Deer Plastic creates that much needed visual barrier along the sides of the alleyway so that the deer aren’t distracted when moving toward the facility. The deer are only able to see whatever openings you’ve left for them and move into your catch crowding pen and eventually through your facility.  Between pens, the use of Black Deer Plastic can cut down on the amount of contact deer have between pens. Plastic fence barriers such as this along exterior fences allow for privacy and in many cases, predator control.

The following products work extremely well along alleyways, between pens and on exterior fencing. The following plastics must be installed on an existing wire fence or alike.

The following plastic works very well when installed  on panels constructed of a simple frame but having no wire.
