Hoping to get some advice. I have a 4 week old Doe Fawn that has recently started coughing every once in a while. She is eating good, her bowel movements are good, and has energy. Is this starting symptoms of pneumonia or something else? If so what and how much should I give her?

Any advice is much appreciated.

Some coughing is normal in bottle feds right after eating, some just try to suck to fast. If she is coughing at all times of the day it could be the start of pneumonia. If you see energy levels drop at all i would treat immediately. Bowel movements will still be normal with pneumonia. Pneumonia in most cases will raise body temp. Temp should be 100-102. Baytril has been very effective for me. 1cc in bottle, two days later give 1/2cc, then evaluate her to see if more treatment is needed.

I wouldn't be too fast to admit it is pneumonia. I have been seeing the same thing with my deer all summer....fawns and adults. They cough after or during running and playing. I think it is BLOT FLY. From what I have been told it is a cycle that has to run it's course. I am not sure how to treat it, if it can be treated. From what I have seen it lasts about 2 weeks. I have not had any other issues with my deer, just and occasional cough. But at some time or another, almost all of them have had the same symptoms.

Remember the old addage....An Ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. It might not be pnuemonia but it sure doesn't hurt to give it meds just in case. The Draxxin or the Baytril are good choices. The Baytril cost considerably less. Your local Vet should have both. Hope you get the little girl turned around.
