I have a 3 week old fawn that is coughing. She is very active and alert, and eats well. She is bottle fed. Any one have suggestions?

No,we fed her in the morning, when next feeding came she coughed before we started to feed.

Listen to the lungs or chest rad from local vet, Temp.. If consolidated lung(aspiration) or pneumonia- nebulization with albuterol or pulmicort works great!! and safe on fawns.. similar to asthma treatments in kids(the "peace pipe" :0)).. If pneumonia, many antibiotics can be placed in milk in bottle such as albon yellow liquid, uniprim, etc.. call local vet :0)

drjoe, Do you prefer an oral antibiotic over a shot of draxxin? Just curious. I'm always interested in alternative ideas and thoughts on a subject. Rick

draxxin at 0.2 cc per 10 lbs SQ lasts approx 2 weeks, easy to do.. I have had good luck with excede as well 0.25cc per 100 lbs sq lasts approx 7 days.. When using draxxin- only use it for pneumonia cases. I'm not as agressive with banamine as I was 10 yrs ago.. I only use 0.1 cc IM in fawns one time with antibiotic.. B12 is always great to give as well-0.5 cc IM.. If on bottle, always add tsp of colostrum,mana-pro, to every bottle until weaned.. TetraDure is another injectible I use alot and works great when you get deer with abscesses on the jaw, 0.5 cc per 10 lbs im and lasts approx 7 days, burns some too.. Hope this helps, God bless
