I had pair of coyotees dig under my fawning pen and take 3 new born fawns. The chewed apart my tame pied 7 year old doe. I had to put her down but was able to have vet help me get her two fawns from her belly within 45 seconds. the fawns are doing well. I was not planning on blttle feeding this year but now I will be tied down for next 9 weeks. It hurts so bad to loose you favoritie deer. It always seem to happen to your best or favorite. It is terrible to loose any of our deer but we do get attached to some more than others. I have snares set to hopefully catch one.

I have been having alot of success calling them up and shooting them. They will come to the fawn distress call right now. I have killed nine in the last two saturdays. Going again tomorrow. Number 4 buckshot in a 3 in mag will burn them up. A decoy works good to but not necessary. Between the goldin marlin and calling I plan to wipe them out around here. I shoot everyone I see unless he has the mange!

Call me, I can give you a way to a way to get rid of the Coyotes.

No doubt,Kill all them bas...ds and then make it a point to get out there and put that predator fence along the bottom of your pens.It goes on real easy.It takes a little time to do it but well worth the effort as now you wont get a full nights rest knowing that those useless things could come back for more!!!

If possible get electric run around your fence,I live in an area with lots of coyotes and bears and we hunt the coyotes with dogs with great results but I still put a strand of electric 6" off the ground to keep them from digging under.I have a total of 3 strands and haven't had a problem yet.Knock on wood!

I am so sorry to here of your loss of fawns and your favorite doe. I've worried about coyotes for a long time. Even though we have an electric fence around the base of the fence about 6" off the ground and another around at about 5 feet. (no coyotes have gotten through but we have fried a few squirrels) That's at our fawn pen. One of our fawning pens we layed chicken wire on the ground outside at the base of the fence and connected it with hog clips. That way anything that digs isn't getting through. And the grass grows up through fairly quick no one knows it's there and you don't trip over it. Good luck getting those nasty coyotes. Here in N.Y. they are so bad that the estimate is that in areas they are taking up to 75% of the fawns. Need to blow them things off the face of the earth. Hope things go well with your bottle feeding. Those cute little things will make the losing of your doe a little easier.

If coyotes got in so will dogs. They kill everything in the pen. I lost 23 adults and 18 six month old fawns last year when 5 dogs got in my 5 acre pen. Ice grounded out my elect. fence that had kept everything out for 8 years. Now I have a 5 strand elect. fence and skirting. Put everything else on the back burner if possible and get that skirting on A.S.A.P.

At Apple Creek we have have over 20 miles of high fence most 10' with 24" skirt fence laid hog tied to bottom of outside. All breeder pens are double fenced. Under all gates we lay wire and up to 1 foot packed road base. Top of fence we run hot Hot HOT wire even over gates. We have seen black bears, timber wolfs and coyotes walking the outside. Still one coyote to move out of 1500 acre track.
