Hi all! I would appreciate some guidance and advice.
My husband and I are new to raising whitetails. We just bought our first 2 fawns a week ago yesterday. They were born May 25 and June 7. We noticed they had the runs when we got them so we had them checked by our vet and they've both been diagnosed with Crypto.
Vet prescribed Metronidazole for both. We put them both on Probiotics 1x/day, Electrolytes 2x/day, trying to get Pepto in them 1 to 2x/day and we are trying to be sure we get the poop cleaned up right away and are spraying that area with bleach water. They still have the runs and this is the little buck's 2nd round of Metro (he was on it when we got him!). I've read a little so far and saw Triodine-7 mentioned for clearing the runs but the vet advised against it. Has anyone else used it and is it something we could use with them having Crypto?
Is there anything else that can be done to keep this under control and get it cleared up?
The fawns are eating well and are active, but I'm worried that these two are going to keep recycling this metro and we'll never get it cleared up and even more worried that my kids are going to get it or that the fawns will die.
