This email was recently authored by our State CWD Program Coordinator. I'm sharing this with everyone just to make sure that I understand it correctly, since tensions here in MO have been high, and EHD deaths have been, too. The way I decipher this is that if you have 2 deaths that your vet suspects are caused by EHD, you get him to put it in writing, and then every 10th death thereafter are the only ones needed to be submitted for CWD testing, and all you have to do is retain tags from the third through 12th and submit them to the vet. Am I missing something? This would not be a good thing to misunderstand...

To Missouri CWD Participants and Veterinarians:

As most of you are aware EHD is a major problem this year. Because of this issue, a special exception will be made. With your veterinarian's diagnosis of EHD, a sampling of 10% (every 10th deer), with a minimum of two samples will meet your CWD sampling requirement on the EHD deaths. The older males would be the preferred test animal. Dead deer tags will need to be submitted to your veterinarian for verification. Thank you for your attention in this matter.

Thank you,
