I just sent an idea to them for another Myth #7. The disease is always fatal!

Answer to Myth 7 ...Isn't the vast majority of Deaths to Cwd Positive Cervids due to Lead Poisoning?

Alex,

That's a statement they make in EVERY CWD article made. I agree with you, have them prove that !!! Since there is no approved live test, how can they make that statement?

Have you ever seen or know of an animal that has presented with clinical symptoms & then recovered?

This would be a way to disprove the "statement".

If it only takes 3-5 years for cwd to show its effects, why should we have to test anything older that was born and raised on your property?

Mike It would all depend on the age the deer got exposed to the CWD meaning of it touched noses with a wild deer through the fence that had CWD......so if it was 3 years old when it was exposed it could be 5 to 8 before it showed signs....I guess thats their thought anyhow....

CWD could be mistaken for pneumonia or even a doe that decides she is going to let six fans nurse! The only way to prove is live test and leave a positive live and see what happens. Doubt that will happen.

Dennis,

Yes but the blame would most likely be on the deer farmer because odds are the wild deer would never get tested.

Today driving around about forty miles counted 40 dead deer in ditches, some have been there along time.

Lots of critters eating on them and possibly spreading lots of diseases.

Oh yeah for sure Mike the blame would be on us......we need to fight to change that......it just can't keep going on any longer!

Dennis,

careful how you word things there's no proof that nose to nose contact can spread cwd.

Chuck

Yes Chuck I was not saying this is what I believe........I was just answering Mikes question on why THEY make us test animals beyond 3 and 5 years old that die on our farms.....Unfortunately the ones that we have to answer too do believe that nose to nose contact can cause the spread of CWD.....I am not saying I believe this.........
