It was just getting my goat today on what we have to test on the CWD program. A thought just came to me about this. My question is why do we have to test any more that the State we live in. We should not have to test any more than the DNR does. If 1 or 2 percent is good enough for them it should be good enough for us. There is not a State that tests more than 5 percent of the wild deer and elk. Fact is it's a lot less than that.
I think this industry should be pushing for less testing period on CWD.
The response from officials would be that is not enough testing to find CWD on high fence facilities. We sure could throw that back in the faces of the rule making departments. I'm very disgusted we now have to test 12 month animals. I slaughtered 45 deer last year for the family and then got the bill for CWD testing on animals we were eating which was 4500. That is absolutely insane.
I remember the word from our people in charge was we can change thing we dislike later. Boy I would like to see that change but I'm sure we will not be able to change one thing in the CWD program. Government just keeps piling it on in this industry. Sorry for my vent but I'm sick of this.
