Need to rant, Had to call the sherriff today. Some ignorant kid trespassed our neighbors property to hunt for mushrooms and turned his pitbull loose. So the dam dog ran the deer fence and one of our best does broke her neck hitting the fence, and some of our bucks growing antlers are messed up now.  My wife stood in front of the dudes truck till the sherrif arrived and the phone number the kid gave the sherrif is not a working number. The kid admitted that he had no permission from the property owner, and also admitted that his dog did run the fenceline a couple times, well that's all it took. My wife took pictures while this was going on, even got pictures of the kid flipping my wife the finger. Needless to say we are fuming mad !! and its a good thing I wasn't home or who knows what could have happened.

That just makes me want to beat that kid Back into the mother and then knock some sense

Into her! So sorry for your loss!

Please tell me your going to take him to court

Kid-Trespasser-Pitbull-Flipping off wife= A waste of time trying to recoup anything. Cant hurt to try though. Very least should be trespass charges!

Sorry for your loss Mike!

hopefully he was a young punk living at home ( with his parents) we had the same deal and his parents insurance paid for it. good luck

Yes we are working on a case.

We have a guy doing an appraisal on the doe and the 2 fawns she was carrying, and on our phone we also have pictures of the kid, his vehicle and the dog, Also the Sherrif said to be sure and subpoena him cause he would be happy to stand on our side. We got hold of the kids landlord, (by the way the kid is 23 and lives with his girlfriend) and the landlord was happy to give us the kids working phone numbers, and other information, and the landlord was eager to know that they have a pitbull because he only gave them permission to have two cats at the house, no dogs. Went by to see if the address was correct, kids vehicle was in the drive and a big hole chewed in the front door, what a prize this kid is, with a pitbull, a 1 year old baby and 4 year old child.  I was able to talk via phone with the kid and he said if he is found guilty in court, he will be happy to pay, but changed his tune when he found out how much we paid for the doe and value of the fawns that were to be born in a couple weeks. Kid said these are "just animals" and that he has two kids to raise himself, and he doesn't have that kind of money, then he hung up on me !

I'm sure he doesn't have any money, worthless little bum was probably picking mushrooms when he should have been at a job making money to support his kids. I'm sure we're all are paying for his kids too. I may sound harsh but I'm about fed up with the lazy disrespectful people these days, kill someones pets or livestock and then have the nerve to flip your wife off??? I bet he is lucky you weren't home when that happened.

Ya, I can guarantee you if I was home at the time, his finger would have been relocated to another area of his body, where the sun don't shine !

We had a very similar case in which a young kid "low life" had three boxers that got into our pen last August. The dogs killed over a dozen of our does and several fawns. We actually went to court twice as of course he appealed and we won. He was forced to pay for damages we settled for 1/2 the appraisal and we only settled for half due to the fact the judge the defense attorney said he had nothing and if we did not settle we could have ended up with $25 a month in restitution, by cutting the deal we receive $500 per month.

The thing that helped us the most was we got in touch with the local dog warden due the fact that is where the police sent us we as it turned out the kid was a prick to the warden and the dogs were not licensed or vaccinated which is a big deal to them. So he not only had to pay us restitution but he had several fines, also the warden tried the case and tied the restitution in with the case which eliminated any lawyer fees.

You may want to contact the dog warden very helpful for us. Just make sure that your dogs if you have any are up to date that was the first thing he asked us.

Hope this helps.
