Any idea what this is and how to treat it if treatment is necessary? Never saw a bulge...just the dark spot...haven't been able to get close enough to examine if it's raw, scabbed, etc. I'm thinking maybe ringworm or something, but they were wormed not long ago...

Sorry for the terrible picture...camera phone doesn't take the greatest pic and with the delay between hitting the button and it actually taking the photo, she'd already started to turn her head away.

The bump on the other fawn seems to be shrinking...tried to get a photo of it tonight too, but no luck. Will try again later.

I don't know what it is but almost all of my bottle fawns have had spots like that the last 2 years....more so this year with it being wet maybe?

I read earlier this summer per Scott Henrich that it could be a fungus that fawns get...maybe he could help you better.

They go away....I don't treat them or anything. Some get it worse than others too.

Ringworm is a fungus so worming will not help. The sore is in the healing stage and will go away by itself. Like Scott, I think it was an abscess that has burst. Also fawns will build their own immunity to these ground bacterium but you could use Fuso Guard to help build their immunity.

Thanks all...good to know it's nothing serious then. They're both eating great so I wasn't too worried...but there was some concern since I didn't know what it was and I've gotten quite attached to the lil dingbats over the past few months. Can't wait til my boss leaves for Florida...then they'll be getting moved into a big field with their mom (who is also tame) for the winter.

Abcess that burst is correct, I would give it 1/2 cc of Baytril and 1/2 cc of Draxin, one on each side on rear butt just in case.

I had a Noble buck fawn that went through the same thing about three weeks ago, and now you can't tell he ever had it. They clean up pretty well, and I can't say I did anything at all.
