I got ready to dart some deer today with my Pneu-dart model 193, shoots 22 blanks. I checked my gun at 50 yards and was a little left..ok. I checked it at 60 yards and was low, second shot low, third shot hit home. OK so far never shot it at 60 before. That was the last of that lot of 22 shells.



Got out a new box of 22 shells, darts were all over the place, esp bad low. My buddy arrived, using same type gun, his shots were all over the place, esp high and low. Only thing changed is we were both using new lots of 22 ammo.



Both of these guns are usually tack drivers. Mine will shoot into two inches at 30 yards all day...usually. I even changed darts, using two sizes, old and new. All over.:mad:

dtala, I think I would stick to 30 yds or less. 50 or 60 yds is a very risky shot. At that distance there is to much time for the deer to move. Be patient and aim small.
 
Likely in the cartridges. Are you using the CCI cartridges? They are the most reliable. every now and then I shoot one and it will sounds like a dudd.
 
Years ago I used that type of dart gun. I found that a box of shells was very inconsistent. I ended up getting a scale from where my wife works and weighing each shell individually and then tossing out the high and the low ones and using just the majority in the middle. This helped a great deal with consistency of power for each shot. The scale will have to weigh grams to work.
 
predator3, trust me, I'd prefer to stick to ten yards, but these deer are pretty wild and in a large(10 acre) pen. I have shot one hole three shot groups at fifty yards with this gun. Not today:mad:

Be sure toi inspect the o-ring on the power compensator dial. A crack in it will create the same type of issues. As you roll the dial, the crack moves too. This creates a varying effect in accuracy that at first glance is the charges. Also, clean the orifices and the discharge hole from the expansion chamber to the barrel. I too suspect the charges, buit be sure to rule out all other issues first.
 
thanks Scott, the O-ring was my first thought, no probs there. Also checked the discharge holes, expansion chamber and cleaned them. Still no good.



I did get to shoot the CCIs this afternoon...man what a difference. Hit a two inch circle at thirty yards, and hit the same at forty yards. Back to normal for that gun.
