Ok, guys this may seem like a really stupid question, but we have a doe here on our farm that has not bred the past two years. However, she did fawn with twins her first year, buck and a doe both very big healthy fawns.

Any ideas on what the issue could be, or if there is something we can do to help her out next year? Thanks

Something may have went out of whack with her hormones during her first pregnancy... I am not sure what you could do. Does she appear to come into estrus every year? Or is she not even cycling at all? I personally would not risk another year of her not taking. I would move her on, unless she is a sweetie and you don't mind having her around for a pet. I have one doe I could never get rid of, even if she didn't breed, she is about friendlier than my dogs.

We have had 2 does not fawn for 2 years.

One I'm sure had an infection or mumified fawns due to an on and off ******l discharge.

The other must have had a traumatic fawning and her cervix had a membrane covering it when we went to AI her. Nothing in = nothing out

Any problems with fawning or very large fawns could damage any part of the reproductive system rendering them infertile.

Two years of missing fawns is enough to say its time to go.

Ive said it before, that sometimes the buck and doe didnt click. My breeder buck didnt breed this doe named Maddie in 2009, but did in 2010, and then not again in 2011. His son got the job done in 2012. That same buck wouldnt breed another doe (Riley). How I noticed is she was rubbing up against the fence sending signals to a yearling buck over in another pen. He was on to her! The breeder in with her was laying down kicking back?? Now usually they would be over there protecting whats theres. I called her over to the gate, let her in with the yearling, and they were in love! When he was done, she was ready to get out of there!! I put her back in her pen and that breeder she was in with didnt even come over to smell her! I havent been raising deer along time, but I spend alot of time with them. One thing Ill tell you is some deer are friends and some hate each other!! They are very social or not. Thats just the way it is. My guess is youve been using the same breeder buck on her. Eldon
