Hi all,

Why would a whitetail deer have drop ears?

There is an adult doe near us that has drop ears...it reminds me of a floppy eared rabbit. Maybe not as pronounced but she cannot raise her ears like other deer will do when they look at you.

Is this a nerve or health concern? She appears to be healthy and has a fawn traveling with her. It's not that she is angry and pulling her ears back like you see them do when ther eis a confrontation or trying to chase off her fawn.

Thanks

I didn't find the right solution from the internet.

probably damage to nerves or ear muscle. Pretty common in bucks from fighting. I've never seen it in a doe.
