I like to use the small sheep tags. We have to have two forms of id for the dept of ag and one visual tag for the Dept of conservation. I use the round rfid button in one ear and a chip in their body for Ag and the small sheep tag for Dec. Kinda overkill i think but with Ny regs...No shock there!!

I use EZid tags from EZid, I use the medium size ones with the daisy stud. With these if the tag gets hooked on something it will pull the stud thru the stud hole and not rip out the ear. if the stud gets caught it just folds over and releases. I have used them for 2 years now and are very happy with them. Contact them at 877-330-3943 Elsie will be the person you will be talking too, and she is good. She probably will be at the NADEFA conference that is where I seen them

I just use the medium size to start the fawns on and have had zero problems with tear out but do have 3" wire around my fawn pens

This was my first year using Z tags, there little bigger then our state tags, but are lighter with no sagging of the ear of a newborn. They a also very flexible and if they do get caught on something they pull out and not rip the ear. I like the bigger tags cause I get tired of looking through binos all the time.
