was wondering if anyone who vaccinated with Newport labs vaccine has had EHD losses?... lost my herd last year and started with new herd last fall and vaccinated this spring... all seems well at the moment....

I vaccinated last year and had one pen that I didn't. I lost 50 in a little over a week, no difference in the ones that were vaccinated and not vaccinated. Absolutely a waste of time and money. Save your vaccine money and buy a fogger, you'll be WAY better off in my opinion.

I heard from the vet that one of the deerfarmers in the area Vacinated all of his deer except for his three year old bucks and that the three yr old bucks were the only ones that have had EHD this year.

Vet is charging over $600 for 100cc bottle.

Last year vaccinated and lost over half my herd. This year also vaccinated but with new updated vaccine and haven't lost any with farms only 4 miles away loosing more that 70% of their herds this year. Either I'm very lucky or the new vaccine is worth it.

Vaccinated whole heard 2 sick but no loss and have lost a lot over the last 2 years due to ehd but I also started fogging this year so that may be the differnce

The first deer I lost was vaccinated three times April then may and in June after fawning she died in July what a wast of $600 bucks I lost 91 last year and only 12 this year but I fog just about every night and we have been wet all year except for the last month can't wait for a frost

I have a little doe that i'm treating for blue tongue or ehd. How do you know for sure what they have? I'm not a deer farmer this is just a first time rescue for me. We got her Memorial weekend and pretty sure she was just born possibly never even sucked. Her mom was on the side of the road. I've made the mistake of making her a house pet and am crazy about her and then last Sunday she got the huge tongue. I got a shot of dexamethadose for her and her tongue was back in her mouth the next day but still very swollen. I'm also giving her pencillin. She was small to begin with but this has taken a toll. We're tubing her because she won't eat or drink except sipping and starting to lick water but she won't suck at all. The tubing is a struggle for me and i'm afraid i'm hurting her expecially not knowing what all is going on in her. I've read they have sores and swelling all the way down their throat. Is this right? What can i do for her?
