We have had something that looks like this. Seems to have been caused by the high winds which has blown dust and dirt into the deers eyes causing an eye infection. We have had good results with a shot of Draxxin and a penicillin eye wash. Seems to go right away.

I didnt mention this in the original post that both of her eyes look like that

mjm6,

I don't think that will matter as the treatment has worked on ones with both eye with the problem here. When I was talking wind here that means 60 to 70 miles per hour so both eye get dirt in them. Heck I even get dirt in my eyes when I'm out in that stuff. Montana gota love it.

Cherry eye is a plugged infected tear duct which then pushes out the infected duct and surrounding tissue most common in dogs. Removal of the duct and inner eye tissue is the normal way to treat this problem.

Eye lashes turning into the eye are caused by a birth defect and is called entropy and the problem is there from birth.

Could she have scratched her eye(s) on anything?

Have there been any changes to the eyeball itself (i.e., opacity? structure? bulging?). If not, she likely has a simple conjunctivitis that you can treat with a topical (ocular) antibiotic that can be applied to eyes (and/or mucus membranes).

I know that cattle frequently get conjunctivitis (pink eye)-

See http://www.uky.edu/Ag/AnimalSciences/pubs/id135.pdf

But I'm not sure whether you can use the same ocular (eye) antibiotics that they use on cattle for deer. It may be worth asking your vet.

No there has not been any changes in the eye it pretty much got like that over night

I use Terramycin Ophthalmic Ointment every time I put a deer down as a precaution that dirt gets in the eye or a scratch could happen. I also use it because it keeps the eye moist.I would try that.

This is a mineral deficiency! Get a good mineral suppliment like Nutrena "Onyx" minerals and sprinkle about 1/2 cup over feed daily until the eyes return to normal.

Hello i have to free ranging deer and i have saw matter in bouth of there eyes i put eye drop in the eyes but did not help and i saw on here about the mineral may be the problem and all i can find is Record Rack® Deer Mineral will that do the work that all i can find here right now

If minerals is the problem then a mineral cow block the brown one, you can get at any feed store should help.

I keep a mineral and a salt block in all my deer pens.
