Hey all,

I've got a 3 week old fawn that has bloated and quit eating. She is lethargic, foams from the mouth after a couple ounces of milk replacer, is grinding her teeth and is not pooping. I'm afraid I will lose this fawn if I don't do something. suggestions? I've given probiotics and cut the milk replacer ratio.

Thanks,

Ben

I had one do that and i gave her 1/2 ounce of castor oil (vegetable oil)and made her get up and walk. She was going within 15 minutes. Not sure many would agree with this method but it worked.

I have never had any trouble with my formula before. Its Fox Valley and the other 17 fawns are doing great on it. You think the formula is the source of the problem?

all i know is when i used formula i would have a few fawns that would either be runny or constipated. once i switched to red cap, for the last two years, i have not had those problems.

I would say to be safe i would give a heavy dose of CD&T antitoxin along with penicillin . Just my protocal for bloat. If it is clostridial perfringens you won`t have much time.

There is something for gas for babies. I would definitely use that. Possibly with every meal.

Baby Gas drops are available at Wal Mart,You can also add Tagamet pill to bottle to help an irritated belly and 1 or 2 drops of mineral oil will get them movin normaly only have to give it one time!.................It takes VERY little to get them from PLUGGED...........To a RIVER FLOWIN! Use spareingly!

Best of Luck!
