First we picked up two bred does from a farm a couple hours away, then we picked up a fawn and bred doe from another farm close by. They were all darted with BAM, put in the trailer and we woke them back up. Went out this morning and fawn doe was laying in the barn, couldn't get up, breathing heavy. Went back to check about an hour and she had expired, any thoughts would be appreciated to not have this happen again, thanks. I do not know the cc amount she was given or if the BAM even had anything to do with it I am new to this and trying to prevent it from happening again. The other 3 mature does seem to be just fine.

I won't say no. But I don't think it was a pecking order thing. I would say that it had a reaction to the bam or the reversal. First you need to know how much it ways.then you can give the correct doses. There's a chart that comes with a bam kit. But they are kida just guided lines. I am by no means saying that your fawn was given to much of anything. Some animals their body just can't handle the meds. Expecially if they are on edge or scared when you put them down. There are many things that it could have been.try not to be to hard on yourself it stinks but it does happen. But my advice and in my experience. Keep them calm before hand, their temperament is key to the drugs affect. Try to keep the temperature in mind. I will only dart when it's between fifty and eighty. Again this will affect the body. Try to refrain from giving all kinds of shots and drugs at the same time. Personally I don't give my deer any other shots at all. Except a shot of nuflor if they get a bad wound. And that is just an antibiotic. There are natural ways to give them what they need. Another thing is. And this is my preference. I won't give a deer that is under a year old anymore than one quarter of a cc of tranq. It works and it is not so hard on the animal.also only let them down for no more than twenty minutes tops. And try not to wake them back up before five minutes. This way the tranq has time to work through the body. Before you jam it full of adrenaline. I hope this helps a little bit.
