Looking for some thoughts on a doe fawn I'm working on right now. About three weeks ago she seemed to be breathing heavy so thought pneumonia so treated her with Draxxin and Nuflor, her breathing got better but she got loose stools on us (think gave a little too much of antibiotics). Put her on probiotics and gave leaves for roughage daily and she was back to pellets in 4-5 days. Then last week, about 12-14 days after antibiotic treatment she started breathing heavy again. Gave her some Zuprevo (like Draxxin) last Friday and her breathing hasn't gotten any better. Now, she isn't breathing heavily with open mouth and panting, she just seems to be taking a deep, slightly labored breath every time. Meaning you see her stomach area really suck in when inhaling. She doesn't have any signs of mucous in mouth/nose and is eating and drinking fine. She really doesn't look run down or rung out. Not sure what's going on with her? Not sure if it could be nasal bots obstructing her breathing? Thinking about maybe getting a blood and stool sample drawn to see if it's something we could more specifically treat. Anyone experience anything similar to this?

I think pneumonia setting in again...but just my thoughts....that dang stuff is tough.....not only in deer but humans as well....had it ....did it....... don't want to do it again ...... Again just my thoughts...breathing heavy...sucking wind...definitely a lung problem which is usually pneumonia......again just my opinion...good luck...

Bacerial pneumonia is my guess. Ive seen it exactly with the runs being secondary because of sinus drainage disrupting the rumen. Give Excede SQ at the base of the ear. I would do this every other or third day till major improvement is shown. Im no vet but i would also give baytril, good luck

I have a buck fawn doing the same thing!! abdominal breathing, but no sounds and no mucus...just fast labored breathing...I thought nasal bots (even though airway seems/is unobstructed) so I gave Ivermectin plus and Nuflor??
