Fawn not pooping

We have a doe fawn that we are unable to stimulate to poop. It is 4 am and has been over 12 hrs since last movement. We have tried a lot even using a q- tip to try to coax her into going. What other things can we do to help her? We are feeding straight red cap. Please help or suggest. Thank you so much

Yes we use baby wipes on our fawns. This is our second year bottle feeding and we just have not run into this yet

I also have a doe fawn that we pulled about 38 hrs. ago. She is alert and has eaten great, but has not had a bowel movement yet. Starting to get concerned, never had one go this long before. Any info would be great.

Haven,t had this problem in our baby deer yet, but with puppies we use the tip of a match (unlit and unburned) inserted into rectum just the sulfer part, and it causes the sphinter muscle to react and get things moving. This is what has worked for us in a similar situation.

Put 1 or 2 cc's of mineral oil in their bottle and that should help loosen things up for them.

Mineral Oil in thier bottle will loosen them up QUICKLY:eek:...... but only a COUPLE of drops is what we use!...........A little dab will do you...............Remember it's afine line holding that little flood gate from closed to OPEN!:D

I prefer not to give them anything through the stomach and create long-lasting looseness in the past I have used an enema tube and bottle designed for human babies with a glycerin based pharmaceutical liquid, lube the tube with mineral oil and carefully insert 4 inches, slowly squeeze the bottle and don't try to get a really close look when it starts winking at you

Adding just 2 or 3 drops of white syrup (Karo or other) to their bottle is a common way to get things moving. Just 1 feeding will probably work, but do not give it more than 2 consecutive feedings before working for the tail end results. Too much will make them too loose. The stools may come & then soften up for a feeding or two later but will then firm back up. This has worked for years for us. Hope it all works out.
