I'm a little new to the whole raising deer thing, and I have a few questions. First let me say I acquired him cause his mom abandoned him and I know she did because where we found him was where our trail cameras were and he was there by himself for two days she never showed back up. So we ended up taking him so the coyotes would not get him since they are bad here.
My first question is how can you tell how old they are? I'm unsure because he still has a little bit of umbilical stump, but his eyes are mostly brown there is still a little bit of blue in them.
The second thing is he had two good bowel movements yesterday well when I went out for his morning feeding there was a quarter size piece of poop in his cage it was kind of runny and mushy. I noticed it had blood on it. So would the blood just be from that large piece coming out at once from him straining to get it out?
He had a very good appetite to this morning at each feeding yesterday he was only eating an ounce if I was lucky to get him to today he ate almost 3 in one feeding and he was up running around more any help would be appreciated.
And just so everyone knows I do not plan to keep him maybe if he were a she I would but once he's able to be out on his own I am letting him go.
