I'm sure most old guys know this trick. When fawns scours we will give a 1/2cc shot or put in 1/2cc of Baytril 100 for at least three days or until scours stop. Baytril is a great gut drug for any problems like this.
Give a few feeding of electrolytes and a feeding of the milk you have been using mixed with half water and reduce amount of fluid given.
We also treated in the milk for coccidia with a sulfa drug when we had scours.
We always use pumpkin pie mix in our fawn milk.
I have always felt red cap milk would not give enough vitamins or minerals so have not used it till this year. I did mix in one cup River City Milk replacer to a gallon of red cap. I've had to change my mind on red cap milk. We have raised the best fawns we have raised in forty years. Only one round of scours from some sort of bacteria or coccidia but baytril 100 or sulfa quickly took care of that. I couldn't be happier using red cap with a little fawn replacer mixed in. No bloating. Guess you can teach a old dog new tricks. I was told by John Ward I was wrong not to use the red cap and give it a try so thanks John.
