I have a fawn that is about 3 days old and her stool is very very bloody. I have seen bloody stools in the past, but nothing this extreme. When i make her have a bowel movement i don't notice any staining. I am using Fox Valley and i know most people have seen this while using Fox Valley. I need some information on how to solve this issue. What kind of antibiotics o should be giving, how much, and how long they should be given it?? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys!

Drew the only thing i can think of right off hand with that much blood would be a perferated bowel . Not sure how but seems like too much blood for ecoli or coccidia . But ! I did have a buck years ago that had coccidia that was dumping almost pure blood . Like josh said check a fecel sample to rule out possibles.

Thanks a lot Josh and Mitch. I'm going to get a stool sample done to see if I can find anything. Is there anything I can do in the mean time? Thanks guys I appreciate it tons.

By all means get a stool sample and start a 5 day treatment with Corid. Add 1cc amoxycillin to bottles 3 times a day for 1 week.

Hey drew Scott beat me to it !!! Its better to treat while you wait unless you have a scope to check your own sample . Good luck and let us know what you find out .

i ran into it also with one of my fawns. it was clostridium. Penicillin can help i was told by the vet. i personally used excede and it cleared up.
