I just wanted to share this picture of this little buck fawn with the coolest eyes. He has a twin sister that has normal eyes.

One of our breeder bucks seems to throw the coolest eyed buck fawns. Just about every buck fawn (no does) have these eyes. They don't seem to be changing much either. I have a 5 1/2 week old buck fawn that I am bottle feeding and his eyes are still blue.

They are perfectly healthy and do not have any pied genetics in their bloodlines at all.

They are much cooler in person than the picture can capture.

That is really cool Susan. My first ever fawn born on our farm was in 2002 and she had the same eyes. She kept her blue eyes well into the late summer. She ended up having the same slit in her eyes as an adult but they did change to brown. Her mother never produced another fawn like this and none of this does fawns have ever had this. She is from J-44 lineage, so if you trace yours back that would be the only reason that I would think of.

Do any of these fawns have trouble seeing?

Would Nitro or Buford go back to J-44 linage? The buck is Nitro great grandson on the top and Buford great grandson on the bottom.

All the does are different bloodlines....so I know they don't have anything to do with the eyes being that color.

That's really neat...

I had a totally brown fawn born with eyes like that it was a buck ...but I can't remember the bloodlines it was a few years back...Might have been Little Boomer/???

Our Pied lines produce different eyes one line produces a chrome eye...it reminds me of aluminum foil almost reflective looking with bursts of color like a kaleidoscope...

My other kind is crystal blue...I hate that pictures don't represent what they look like either.

I just went through my pictures and these were the best I could find:(... none of the chrome

I have never had eye problems with any of my deer...UH I probably shouldn't say that;)...
