So far we have 11 fawns on the bottle, we are up to 6oz 3 times a day, most are peeing on their own, we make them have a bowl movement once a day, we started using crushed corn cobbs (from TSC) this year mixed with cedar shavings about 50/50 and the cobbs are super obsorbant and help with odor, wet spots are aslo easy to see. First fawns were brought in Sat the 8th. Hope to have these 11 up to 7oz by end of the week.

The hardest fawn this year took about 24 hrs before she would suck and the one we brought in last night sucked down 5oz the first feeding this morning once we got it in her mouth.

So far things are going great, a couple of very small fawns also doing very well....

Sounds like you have your hands full rick. Are you using the red cap formula that you sent to everyone and their brother? You are a lucky man to have any fawns alive with them being born over the weekend, what nasty weather for may.How many buck fawns have you had out of that group so far???

We have 6 buck fawns and 7 doe fawns, we are feeding some buck fawns due to weather problems and potential value of a couple of these fawns....We have left 2 buck fawns on the mom so far and they seem to be doing OK in the wet and cold...

Yes we are feeding Red Cap, we will be adding dirt in their pens (in a dish) tomorrow, I saw one of the ones we left on the mom eating dirt in the pen at 1 day old....

trying to learn as I go along here .do the fawns eat dirt for minerals or is it vitamins .

I am wanting to start a small operation.so you will probably see me asking a lot of questions.

Dearjohn,

One of the big reasons the fawns eat the soil is because they want to....LOL....but the good thing it does for them is helps their digestive systems.....the pick up micro organizims of which helps them with their digesting foods.........this was why i was always told it is important to see that they eat dirt.
