I have two doe fawns that have the runs not pure water but loose they have been like this for a couple weeks i have tryed everything i can think of looking for more help Thanks Nick
If you have not changed your feed in anyway as of late i would say get sample to the vet and check worms and coccidia.I changed our feed a while back with more corn and i had a couple fawns on fire. They stiffened up after a week or so but man they were loose for a while!!
I have wormed with ivormec, gave antibiotics in water and vitamins I have changed feed when it was mixed they added a little more molasses between the 5 fawns in that pen they eat 1/4 of a 5 gal bucket of feed a day and they drink plenty of water and they have lots of clover and alfalfa along with other grasses in there pens and they are the only 2 that look a little skinny but they act fine running around playing and what not.
Get a sample to the vet to rule out anything!!Coccida will make them squirt like no tomorrow!! Very simple test for the vet to do.Its like $12 for a test here in ny!!
Did you try pepto bismol and probiotic paste? works good here! Also had terrible problems this year with new milk replacer that i was told worked good for less money!! LoL! switched to goat milk and no more runs! by the way I have almost a full bag of that replacer if anyone wants it? its free!! LOL
Ok took some poo to the vet they did what they do and turns out even after worming with ivormec they still have a worm that isn't effected by the ivermec so picking up wormer from vet tomorrow worms were called Barberpole worms
by the way they came from my goats that i also wormed with ivermec at the same time i did all my deer so i guess that was money well spent down the crapper
No i just used ivormec inject am going to get the vet tomorrow to get wormer that will take care of everything and give that to everything on the place including the goats
A DVM on this board often suggests worming with Cydectin pour on, with a follow up treatment a month later. Search the boards- you'll find lots of suggestions.
Haemonchus contortus- "the barber pole worm". Dectomax in muscle or cydectin pour on topically works great. Keep the probiotics going!!! Double cattle dose
