Does anyone have any solid feed recipes they feed their deer that they'd be willing to share? I have a recipe I'm using that is 18% protein and my herd looks pretty healthy but I want to make sure I'm feeding them everything they need. If there's something out there I'm missing or if there's something in my feed I can do without I'd love to know. Here is my recipe, any advice is welcome!

Bret, What is the cost of your feed ? Do your deer look good on it ? are they healthy? These are all ? to consider when tinkering with your feed ask 10 deerfarmers you will probably get 9 different answers! Corn gluten is out for me,roasted soybeans instead of the pellets,Garlic in late sping till fall for us,no soybean meal in the feed adds to the fines,we use more mollases,we use more sunflower seeds, and oats an dwheat instead of a distillers grain..............See I just got you wondering about your "RECIPE" beause I do it different doesn't mean mines right either!

Your right, I'll probably just end up utterly confused but I thought the question was worth it incase I learn something. My feed was $300/ton but is now around $410/ton.

Do you have any trace mineral and vitamin package added ? As far as corn gluten feed been feeding it for 15 years with great results. I would like to here whats wrong with it.

from what i understand is nothing is wrong with using it in moderation. To much can send them into Startch shock ( i think that the term.) but bottom line is its toxic to there system in large amounts. With the right amount it gives the animal energy.

This is what i was told at a Record Rack seminar

My reasons for not useing the corn gluten in my feed is kinda right along the same lines as Circle J .......I have simply felt from the beginning that I will only get out of my deer what I put into them. Sounds simple but has proved to be sound advice for me. I can always cut my feed cost but ............Will it affect my antler growth,My does ability to produce good healthy offspring and my fawns to do their best. I just can't justify taking that chance! I was fortunate to get a recipe from a deerfarmer of 15+ years and have simply "fed" off his sucsess and If it ain't broke dont fix it......Again if it works for you great! As I said before its just a matter of opion when it comes to feed! Best of Luck to you all!
