In regard to placement of feeding and watering stations, how far should they be apart? I have had people recommend sparating them because after drinking water, a deer can slobber into the feed station if in close proximity.   30 ft. ?  30 yrds. ?  Or does it really not matter?

What do you guys do?

I don't think how far apart really matters but I would put both on the highest ground in your pens. On a slope would also be good. In the winter they make a mud hole around both. Their feet will stay healthier and you will be reducing the potential of a summer midge habitat. Midges hang out in lower areas waitng for a blood meal when an animal comes to a low area where water is generally found.

We put limestone around our water and feeder since they congregate around there...and the gates...and the fence lol...my whole darn pen will be limestone before long

I have my water about 10 feet from my feeders in all my pens, and I still am surprised every time with the amount of corn or soybean or wheat that end up in the water tubs in a week. Deer are messy eaters! I think it's mostly the doe and fawn pens, the bucks are a little better at not spitting food in their water tubs, lol.

i've deleted 100's of pictures cuz they grain all over their wet noses lol..i know first hand..the fines stick to the noses. sometimes they lick it off..sometimes they don't. Funniest is when another deer licks it off :)
