i don't know maybe it's just me but these forums just don't seem the same anymore.......i used to come on here and look forward to seeing the joking around and the good questions being answered between the deer farmers....now it seems as though all I see is everyone advertising what they have....i know we are proud of our deer and we should be but it just seems like lately all you see is everyone pushing their farms and or animals on here......i liked it before where we all just talked about our farming issues and how to keep our animals healthy or things like where we need to focus to keep our Industry a float!! just seems like all that stuff took the back burner.....don't get me wrong i love seeing these big bucks that is what we are all in this for......however, this is not where i used to come for that kinds of stuff.......i came hear to be able to shoot the breeze and learn about how to raise these great animals........maybe i'm way out in left field but it just seems different.......ZZ maybe i need a good cold Red Cap Enema!!!:eek: anyhow, just and observation!!
 
Dennis, I have to agree with ya. I to enjoy seeing everyones bucks as long as they keep em on the right thread. Sounds like you could use one of those enemmas, hell I may try one to!!! ZZ
 
Hell ZZ.....going in that end you can save some money .......go with blue cap or yellow cap......LOL
 
Why not just open threads that deal with Health issues? When Russel moved to the new site he must have wanted more people posting pictures and promoting their Farm or he wouldn't give us areas to post these things. Heck Dennis you are promoting your farm and bucks with your Website in your signature. Lets just enjoy the great site!
 
I have a name in mind that seems to be selling (or at least pushing) something in every post:(. Unfortunately, I don't see a way aroud it. We are proud of what we do and some see forum as a platform to sell or at least drum up interest or buzz about their bucks.



I think the picture capabilities are intended for various reasons but I can recall several times Russell interceeding to remind those to keep for sale items in respective catagories. :rolleyes:

I kind of agree with Paul if I don't want to watch all the comercials I can always change the channel. With that said I do enjoy seeing those big wide typicals. Rick
 
Hey I just said it was my opinion.....new wave new people i guess........yes painted i did use the old forum and promoted Hefty semen and was sorry for doing it........wish i could take it back.......I don't want to see this site taken advantage of it is a worth of knowledge and Russell is kind enough to supply us with it at NO COST! So this being said, we should be respectful and not over step our bounds.........Otherwise, don't be surprised when Russell asks for us all to pay a fee to advertise our animals and or farms on his site that we get for FREE right now! I don't see any other sites offering free advertisements on thier sites and surely don't think that is what this forum that russell so kindly set up for us was for. I have plenty of things I would like to push for sale on here but i won't do it out of respect for Russell and for this site.....this is my opinion only! Yeah where is DC......he is fed up with all the crap too..........it's ashame....used to be fun!!

It's a new age of deer breeders I suppose. Some are very clever with how they are marketing their farms on this site. Always thinking of a new angle to get pictures of their place and deer on here. Nothing wrong with that, I love looking at big deer, but nobody likes a bragger, so after a while it just gets old. Anyways, Dennis, much like the TV, you don't have to watch if you don't wanna. So just keep on clicking ;)

I try to stay out of these things but...

There have always been a lot of antler growth posts. The old forums would have part 5, 6, 7 ,8 etc. of antler growth. If there are a few new people and more posts of bucks then isn't that a GOOD thing? Do we want our industry to shrink? Also, when Russell puts in a place called "Vendors and Buyers Sales Barn", I'd say that it IS intended to promote, sell, advertise etc.

The description of the forums are written right under them and I really haven't seen anyone over step the boundries too badly. If they do Russell is always good about letting them know.

One thing that I see is different lately... a lot of whining and complaining about really trivial things. Or this milk is better than that milk. There were even people complaining about a FREE contest.

I agree Droptine with what you are saying. The way I see it is like this. If you see a commercial during every commercial break on tv eventually it gets annoying and steers you away. After you see something so many times you eventually get from the point that yes you remember it too, then okay enough. The antler grow section used to have alot more farmers showing all kinds of different deer big and little. I think some may be intimidated to a point because of all of the huge deer posted so often. I always enjoyed watching how some of the farms progressed from year to year. Alot of those farms aren't even hear anymore. That is ashame. I do like the sale barn section though. I kind of liked it when DD was selling Hefty semen on there. Everyone had the ability to discuss the buck and get questions answered before buying if they wanted to. Shoot I was even able to show a son from him to show some type of pass down. I wasn't marketing the deer what so ever but just showing what Hefty had done for us. I haven't even drawn the buck. I know everyone has there point of view on everything and this is mine. I personally haven't marketed any deer hear as of yet but I might get input here and make semen available to those that are interested.
 
Here we go again. This site in the past withstood a lot of bickering and it doesn`t have to be that way. We have lost some very good people from this site for just that reason. We have lost a wealth of knowledge because we felt things should be different than what was posted. If I feel some things have gone overboard on a topic I just tend to bypass it. Because it`s not of interest to me doesn`t mean it`s not to someone else. To each his own. I could care less what people want to post as long as it stays within the guide lines Russell has set. As far as people promoting their farms and deer on here, go for it. That`s what we do. If you don`t promot your deer yourself who will. It gives me a chance to look at deer that aren`t in my pens. When people get run off here AGAIN and not post any pictures most will ask, where`s some pictures. I`ve been on this site for a lot of years now and have seen people come and go. Times of the year play a role of what is shown and talked about on here. Early in the year we talk fawns, now is antler, bone, horns season so you can expect to see bucks posted. The spring and early summer is a busy time for farmers and the joking and kidding slows down and a bigger focus is on the animals. Let`s all put the knifves down and enjoy this site for what it was intended for. Our industry!! We are supposed to be a tight nit industry and from what I`ve been reading I would think people on the outside would think, Hummmm, fighting in the ranks. United we stand DIVIDED we fall. I`m probably one of the biggest jokesters on here and I`m sure some have thought, I wish he would shut up. But they respected that`s just me and went on. I`ll shut up now. Maybe. I was told before if I shut up for 5 minutes I`d fart myself to death. :eek: :D

Very well put Mitch....i should have never started this thread......i guess I should have thought before posting.....you are very right....it is the time of year when we talk about the things we are talking about on the forum now....I do love seeing the big bucks and the antlers and would be dissapointed to see them gone...........it just seemed like a lot of advertising going on.....but its probably been this way for a long time.......I apologize for even bringing up the issue guys and girls....."United We Stand" is the way to go for sure!!
