Happy Birthday.

Thanks Mike! My first choice would have been to spend it at home, but work got in the way of that. It was however a good time. I am in Germany and went to a restaurant I like. I showed up just before closing time and the staff was sitting around drinking beer. They invited me to join them and we had some good laughs trying to learn each others languages. I am grateful for the opportunities I have had in my life. And this job although hard at times is one of them.

Rodger, Happy belated birthday. You can't tell me you are working. Your job is a position anyone would die to have. Would like you to share some pictures If you have time. The last pictures were awsome.

Not sure what kind of pics you might like to see. But I will have to put some on for you when I have a little more time. Been bouncing around the world a lot this trip. Not much down time.

This is a pic I took a few days ago heading east across the North Atlantic. It is the southern tip of Greenland. Unusual to see it so clear there. We saw some really large icebergs also. A couple of them looked to be the size of a football stadium20724:image20725:image.

Thanks Roger. Them pictures look like northern Michigan. We still have 8 to 10 inches of snow left an my lake behind the house has 2 feet of ice yet. It was 32 with snow & rain this morning.

Ok here are some pics I took in the lobby of the hotel we are using in New Delhi India. The pics are really not the point as much as the story of how this is done. There are so many people here in India that most don't have a job. I have read numbers that over 400 million people live in poverty. In fact I have heard the average person makes the equivalent of just $50 US per MONTH. With labor being so easy and cheap hotels hire many men and some women to do things. The pot in these pics is about 4 feet across and is partially filled with water. Then adult men hand pluck each flower petal and one by one place them on the water surface. New designs and new arrangements are done every day. Imagine being 35 years old and this is how you earn a living. We have a saying here among my coworkers. "We have won life's lottery by the fact we were born elsewhere." I do often get discouraged with my job or my life, however this job has also shown me just how incredibly fortunate I am20727:image20728:image20729:image.

That's awesome

Sometimes we take life for granted and we might think we have it bad. But then see on the news other countries and the way they live and realize we don't have it so bad afterall

Thanks for sharing something we would never see with out you Roger. Proves you don't need money or riches to be talented.

The last pictures were awsome.Just finished one of the days that "anyone would die for" and yes I feel dead. Dead tired. It started in New Delhi India and we flew 5 1/2 hours to Hong Kong. Then stayed in the plane while the cargo was off loaded and new cargo reloaded. Then we flew 9 hours and 15 minutes to Bahrain. From the time we left the hotel in Delhi to check in at the Bahrain hotel was 22 hours and 30 minutes. Yep dead tired. But I did snap this pic on approach to Bahrain. Oh and the temp at 11am was at a cool 92 degrees in Bahrain. Time for a shower and bed!
