I have a 2 year old bottle raised doe that just had her first fawns 3 weeks ago 2 little healthy girls. After three days we pulled the fawns for bottle feeding. But have noticed that the mother looks really poor. But had decided the 2 fawns had really drawn her down during gestation. Remember i am bottle feeding her fawns. But the problem is her being a bottle raised and gental and in the last couple weeks the smallest things have set her off bouncing off the fence . Not normal behavior for her at all. Wondering if the weight loss and spooking easily may be tied together. Am I missing the big picture?

I bet it has some relation to stress and/or depression. It can be a traumatic event losing their offspring. Does she start spooking when you are around or any person in general?

Noises seem to mainly spook her 4 wheelers lawn mowers however these are things she has always been exposed toa nd never had issues until recently.

I have always thought by pulling the fawns or fawn of a first time mom is risky just make sure she is with other deer. Maybe leave the mower run somewhat close to the pen, just leave it run and maybe That will get her mind off her babies. I'm sure she is just in a panic to find them . Sorry I'm not more help!! Charlie.
