Well I guess you can't call yourself a deer until your best doe on the farm dies or your best buck ruins his antler
walked out to the pen after work tonight and noticed my biggest buck had snapped off half way up his beam and a big drop is loose on the other side as well.
I have never dealt with this before and don't really know what to do. It was definitely bothering him as he kept flinging his head around (probably trying to get it off).
ANY ADVICE WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.
I am thinking I should nock him down and cut it off with a scalpel. I have fly spray that I put on my fawns that I bottle feed to keep them away. I am wondering if spraying this on his exposed antler after I cut it off would help keep the fly from infecting his antlers?
I have seen something that looks like a silver spray paint being used< is this something that you have to get from a vet? or can you pick it up at a local fleet farm or Tractor Supply?
Thank you in advance.
