I have no idea if this is the place to ask but here goes anyway. I am a wildlife rehabilitater, I have a yearling buck that is too imprinted to people to release into the wild. He would run right up to a hunter. This is not the way I like to rehabilitate but he was so sick when I got him I had to keep him in the house. Now he is a yearling and is looking like he is going to be a 9 or 10 pointer I need some ideas on what to do with him before hunting season starts, he is going to be a sitting duck for some hunter.

I am an animal lover BUT....Him getting shot Should be the least of your worry...
He could/would be a real danger to a person or child if you turn him loose.

You are looking at a big liability if you let him loose in the wild. I would find some one with a hunting preserve to let him loose in it . Might sound cruel but he will probly live a longer life in there then in the wild . Most in the wild live to 1 1\2 years old in preserve probly live until 4 or so any how.
couldnt agree with thes 2 anymore had a bottlefed buck and almost killed my dad last year had he still had his horns on he wouldve killed him not a bad idea to give to a preserve then your worries are all over

A lot of preserves would not take him either.......they don;t want deer attacking them either..........probably your best option though....
I don 't know of any preserves in this part of IL I looked on line but didn't find any. I think he would fit in well at a breeding facility but don't know of any of those either he realy thinks he is a dog since he lives with my dogs. I don't think he would attack anyone but I know that could change during the rut. I will check with the zoo. Thanks for the help.
You are compleatly missing the point this deer is not mean in any way I handle him all the time. He is just not a good canidate for release because he is too friendly. If he were mean and a threat to people I would put him down myself.

The Friendlier they are.... the more of a threat they are in rut!!
They have NO fear of man then.They are like a drunk in a bar, Everyone wants their women and Will fight till the death to protect them....A person stands no chance!!!

The older these two bucks get the more aggressive they will get. As fawns and yearlings they are not very aggressive ( as fawns normally not at all ) BUT as they age you will see it. They will be in velvet one day and gentle enough for kids to ride and poof the next day they shed their velvet and her they go. When the testosterone starts flowing and they get that look in their eyes they will hook you, run over you and gore you and if that buck has any size to him at all he will be too too much for you to beat him off of you. It doesn't matter if you have been his buddy forever it's no holds bar.
